In Wait

In the remaining gleamings
of a salmon sunset barely reaching midway the lone cypress,
you slowly fade into the river
taking with you the last of my composure.
In twilight I seek to hold
fast the fading warmth,

the morning cannot come
too soon
to see you slowly open your eyes,
not noticing me hiding
behind the taller branches,
even so I’ll await
until your smile finds me

tucked away
halfway between east and west
my colors paint a tapestry
stretching the landscape
my opening blossoms bellow-
ascend like a kite
catching the wind
as a summer breeze sweeps me off my feet.

Floating up
I peer across the grassy hill and see
your growing smile.
There we meet as equals,
you in full surround.
I in full bloom,
vibrant and content.
